Meet the Headmaster
When I first came to Cobham Hall, one of the things that delighted me was how, as I walked around the school, pupils from Year 7 through to Sixth Form would smile, look me in the eye and greet me politely, and often start a conversation. It is something that still delights me.
A good measure of any school is the quality of the people it develops; people who go out and make a difference in the world, who contribute to society and are able to deal with all of life’s challenges. It was the nature of such people at Cobham Hall, most notably the Sixth Form panel involved in interviewing me prior to my appointment in 2008, that played a large part in my desire to come and be part of this community. I came out of that interview thinking that any school developing young women like that is something I want to be part of, and that’s still true today.
I like to say that at Cobham Hall, we specialise in the individual. I am dedicated to providing an all-round education that develops all aspects of each and every pupil; intellectual, creative, physical, moral, social and spiritual. I believe that the best education is based on experience and challenge, and we provide all girls that come through our doors the opportunities, both in and out of the classroom, to discover that there truly is ‘more in them than they think’. It has always been my belief, and this is now increasingly backed by my experience at Cobham Hall, that such an education enhances academic performance.
Please enjoy spending time exploring our website to discover more about our approach to learning and how this evolves into academic success, and how our Round Square membership is integral to school life. I’d also strongly recommend following our example of learning by experience and arrange to visit. Only when you walk through the doors of our beautiful building will you feel the full Cobham Hall ethos. I’m sure you’ll find the girls as friendly, confident and interesting as I do.
Welcome to Cobham Hall.
