Netball on the Up!

Netball Club has been an exciting place this term. One of our most popular clubs, it is always well attended, but with the recent activity, it’s certainly gaining momentum.

It seems the fire was lit following the half-term tour to Barbados, where girls had the chance to train and play in the Caribbean sun.  Take a look at the highlights in the video below!  The girls played some great games and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.  And their enthusiasm seems to have rubbed off, judging by the results from recent matches with local schools.

A week after returning to school, our U12 and U13 teams took on King’s Rochester, with both teams victorious after close matches:

U12s won 8 – 7.  Player of the Match: Isabelle

U13s won 15 – 14.  Players of the Match: Trinity and Rebecca

Our U14 team took the baton the following night, and won their match against Benenden.  Head of PE Mrs Hooper was thrilled, saying “It was a great match to win; Benenden played a strong side, and it was quite a physical match; a fantastic experience for the girls.  They started a little shaky but soon settled and the game was equal at half time; we then broke away to win 16-8.  Trinity played up from U13 to U14, and received Player of the Match – quite an achievement and on the back of being named Player of the Match last night against King’s!”

U14s won 16 – 8.  Player of the Match: Trinity

Outstandingly, Trinity was to continue her performance, taking Player of the Match for the third time in as many matches the following week against King’s Rochester.  Both the U14s and U16s played matches and again, both won.  Mrs Hooper said, “The girls were outstanding; playing with grit and determination throughout.  It was also great to see parents from both sides supporting and cheering all the girls.”

U14s won 19 – 10.  Player of the Match: Trinity

U16s won 27 – 20. Player of the Match: Toke

Our U14s then unfortunately lost a closely fought rematch with Benenden the next night, but our U13s managed an impressive win, playing one of Benenden School’s U14 sides.

U13s won.  Player of the Match: Rebecca

U14s lost.  Players of the Match: Holly and Zara

With only one loss in seven over two weeks’ of matches, we’re looking forward to cheering the girls on in forthcoming games!
