Activities
Following the Round Square motto, “There’s More in You than You Think”, there is much to do at Cobham once lessons are over. The school has a diverse selection of both optional and compulsory extra-curricular activities, catering for many different talents and interests.
Major sports offered at Cobham Hall include netball, hockey, tennis and rounders, in which girls have the opportunity to compete against other schools in matches. In addition, the school has its own fitness room and dance studio, and there are facilities for table tennis, badminton, basketball, trampolining, athletics and many other sports. We have an indoor heated swimming pool and girls who display a particular talent for swimming are given extra coaching.
Outside the sporting arena, there are plenty of activities for more creatively talented students. For budding actresses, the school puts on an annual play in which girls from all Year Groups have the opportunity to take part. For the artistically minded there are various specialist art classes such as Clay Workshop and Life Drawing. The musically inclined can join the school choir or orchestra, and private tuition is offered in singing or an instrument of their choice. There are plenty of practice rooms for girls to use.
Those with a sense of adventure are encouraged to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme, including overnight camping expeditions and learning survival skills in the great outdoors.
In addition to these activities, each term the school holds several whole school events in which all students must take part. Girls exercise their vocal cords in the House Music Festival or demonstrate their acting and directing skills at the House Drama Festival, held alternately in the Autumn Term. They give their business skills some practice at the Christmas Fair, sample new cultures at the Cultural Festival in the Spring Term and in the Summer Term the warmer weather brings with it the House Swimming Gala and Sports Day.
There is also Curriculum Enhancement Week to finish the year in style, where Year 10s go on work experience and Years 7 to 9 step outside the classroom to take part in activities varying from cultural trips to canoeing.
There are plenty more opportunities, so why not come and visit and find out what we can offer you?
