In the last week of the Summer Term, students in Groups 1 to 3 enjoy a programme of 'curriculum enhancing' activities. Here are reports on some of the days out enjoyed by the girls - a trip to Bore Place Farm, a visit to Kew Palace and a survival day in Shorne |Woods!
Group 1 – Bore Place Farm
Group 1 had a lovely day at Bore Place Farm. They walked across the fields to look over Bough Beech Reservoir and spent time completing activities which connected them to nature and inspired them to write a beautiful Haiku poem each. They visited the organic farm to find out how common work has developed a variety of other activities and incomes. The group particularly liked the calves!

Inspired by the walk around the farm, the girls made a clay model which signified something they had seen on the farm that they thought was important. They all thoroughly enjoyed the day and it was a pleasure to take them out.
Group 2 – Kew Palace and Gardens The Group 2 students went to Kew Palace and had a private tour so that they could discover more about the lives of George III and Queen Charlotte. They all found the historical talk given by a costumed guide gave very interesting.
The picnic in the gardens of Kew Palace was lovely and gave the girls the energy to look around some of the glasshouses so they could appreciate not only plant biodiversity but also marine diversity too.
GROUP 3 – Surviving in Shorne Woods
Group 3 really enjoyed the ‘Surviving in Shorne Woods’ activity day. They enjoyed a relaxing walk to the Shorne Woods Country Park before learning to use a mallet with saws, bill hooks and other tools to build a shelter in the woods. In the afternoon they learned how to use a GPS and map to do orienteering and found hidden treasure in the woods!
Finally, exhausted from their exertions ,some of them created a piece of art out of woodland material as a memento of their day before walking back to Cobham Hall.
