On Wednesday 7 March, Cobham Hall hosted the second annual conference for potential Oxbridge candidates. Over 70 sixth form students from local schools joined Cobham Hall delegates.
The aim of this Conference is to inspire and inform students considering applying to Oxford or Cambridge Colleges and this year's event was chaired by Professor Eamon Duffy, President of Magdalene College, Cambridge.
The afternoon began with a plenary session, in which Professor Duffy and other senior University staff gave students an introduction to Oxford & Cambridge. This was followed by seminar-style meetings, broadly grouped by subject, which included contributions from undergraduates and postgraduates, allowing students to explore a range of faculty-related issues.
Staff from visiting schools reported that their students had found the Conference extremely interesting, and had benefited from the wide range of information given - from what to include on a personal statement, to the ratio of applicants to places.
