One of the most enjoyable events of the school year is the Cultural Festival. This event was started in the academic year 1991/1992 by an enterprising student and is still going strong.
With students from all over the world studying at Cobham Hall, the opportunity for a truly international annual event is not to be mised. Helped by the school's chefs and catering staff, the girls cook and serve their national dishes in a spectacular buffet in the dining room, giving staff and students the chance to try dozens of authentic dishes from around the world. Girls take the opportunity to wear their nationa dress, adding even more style and colour!
After the feast, everyone crowds in to the Gilt hall for a programme of entertainment devised and performed by the girls. With friendships spanning the wide range of nationalities in school, many of the British girls choose to join their friends in different nationality groups, and have participated in national dances from India, Thailand and Azerbaijan; dramatic presentations of folk tales from China, Africa, Canada and Russia; and numerous hilarious sketches - ranging from a Japanese-eye view of their tourists, to the trials of marriage-broking in various parts of the world.
Funds are raised to support Round Square international projects and girls organise many other fundraising activities on Cultural Festival Day.
Nothing more clearly demonstrates the Cobham Hall ethos. Students from all over the world working together, learning from each other and enjoying the experience. Politicians of the world take note!
