Shorne Woods Country Park has an award winning Visitor Centre, using renewable energy, waste management and recycling practices.
Group 4 Geography Field Trip to Shorne Woods Country Park
Focus: To look at the sustainable good practices at Shorne Woods for waste and energy.
· Walked to reduce our carbon footprint
· Looked at the carbon gym programme to find out how a carbon footprint is calculated
· Had a power point presentation on sustainable good practice at Shorne Woods Visitors Centre
· Walked around the Centre to see waste management (composting bins, recycling bins, sewage through the biodigestor) and energy (wind turbine, photovoltaic cells, woodchip boiler, solar panels)
Outcome
The girls want to organise a poster competition through the school's Round Square Programme to encourage students to reduce their waste and energy.
