Group 1 Boarding Week

It really depends on your perspective on how one describes Group 1 boarding week last week.
No doubt the girls would describe it as fantastic, fun and exciting. The Housemistresses, on the other hand, are more likely to reach for the word “exhausting” if they can muster up any energy to think of a word so complex considering their current states. Tiring as it was, they had fun too but slept very soundly on the weekend, to be sure! It was as rewarding for them to discover the personalities of the Daygirls outside of school hours as it was for Daygirls to see Cobham Hall’s boarding personality!
The week was crammed full of activities. On Monday evening, the girls went tree climbing and did origami. Tuesday was team-building activities which were as amusing as they were bonding. On Wednesday, the paint ball fight was very popular. Girls decorated T-shirts with names and hand-prints before going outside to completely soak themselves (and everyone else) in paint. Thursday’s activities were a little more sedate with cooking and a fashion show with a difference – all the clothes were made by the girls out of newspaper. The biscuits the girls made were delicious and the results of the newspaper clothing were surprisingly imaginative and sophisticated. On Friday, their week in boarding ended a little spookily with a camp fire and a ghost walk. However, it must be said, the Group 4 ghosts were more scared than the Group 1s, who we discovered, would do an excellent job moonlighting as ghost busters!
On Saturday morning, tea was held with the Head of Boarding and Group 1 parents who all reported very happy daughters after a week of great excitement.
Here is what some of the Group 1s had to say about their week as boarders:
· “Boarding Week was a great experience for me to get to know other Boarders”
· “I stayed all week and really enjoyed paint ball and the ghost walk.”
· “The best part was being with my friends”
· “The paintballing was really fun. The best part was that the teachers took part so we could get them covered in water/paint.”
· “Paintballing was really fun...The showers were filled with paint and grass afterwards!”
· “I loved Boarding Week as you got a feel for what boarding was like... It was a great experience and I would definitely board again.”
And now a final word from us:
‘Goodbye Group 1 honorary Boarders! We’ll miss you...we hope you come back to visit us sometime!’
