As Britain went to the polls on Election Day, there was a shock result in Cobham Hall's Mock Election when the Lib Dem candidate, Elitsa Zhugleva, won a convincing victory with 42% of the vote.

The campaign got off to a slow start with girls returning late due to volcanic ash.  However, posters and rosettes appeared as polling day drew nearer and four candidates (Conservative, Green, Labour and Lib Dem) took part in a lively Election Forum two days before the vote.

Opinion polls run by the Mathematics Department had predicted at first a landslide, and then a modest Conservative victory for Lauren Fox, but on the day Cleggmania took hold.  With the Conservatives gaining 32%, Cobham was firmly in Liberal Conservative coalition mood on the day.

Congratulations also to Amy Ho (Labour) and Charlotte Harris (Green) for their contribution to the Mock Election.
