Cobham Hall girls win regional heat in Biathlon Competition
Posted: Tuesday, December 6, 2011 - 13:22
Cobham Hall girls have excelled once again at this year’s Schools Biathlon Competition, held recently in Gillingham.
The Year 12 and 13 team took first place, with our three competitors, Justina, Teresa and Chloe taking home second, third and fourth places respectively.
Our Year 9 team came second, with Emma Boyle placed fifth overall in the age group.
Sports teacher Mrs Carney praised the girls’ efforts in completing the multi-discipline event.
“All of our girls have such grit and determination to succeed not only in the pool but also on the running track,” she said.
“They are competing in a very strong field with schools that have a large number of pupils.”
Teams will find out next week if they have been selected for the national semi-finals to be held at Crystal Palace in the New Year.
Mrs Carney said that the girls’ consistent work on their fitness throughout the year paid off in the competition.
Last year the Year 11 team won their regional section, the national semi-final and finished fourth in the national final.
