Carnegie Shadowing
The Carnegie Shadowing scheme invites children and young people to read the books which have been shortlisted for the Carnegie and Kate Greenaway Children’s Book Awards, assess them by the same criteria used by the judges, and share their views with other reading groups.
The students work their way through the shortlisted books then get together with staff to discuss thoughts and impressions. The students can then submit reviews to the Carnegie website, which is used by all the other schools who are participating. The website has all sorts of information, plus a postbox for reviews and even to send messages to the authors, so the scheme is truly interactive!!
On Friday 22 June, students and staff from Maidstone Grammar School for Girls visited Cobham Hall to discuss the books.
If you visit www.ckg.org.uk/shadowing you will find information on the shortlisted books. A different school gets featured every time you log in, so you may also see the Cobham Hall group.
