GCSE Results - an all round success story

Staff and students celebrated a 100% pass rate at GCSE this summer, with 91.2% gaining five or more A* to C grades - a school record!

Individual successes were also celebrated - with 2 students gaining eleven passes at A* to C and 6 students gaining ten passes at A* to C.

It is becoming widely accepted that, although students gaining five or more A* to C grades are justifiably to be congratulated, those who achieve more modest success should also be recognised.  At Cobham Hall, admission is non-selective, and includes students with academic potential who have specific learning difficulties.  As an international school, we also take pride in guiding and supporting students whose first language is not English, through GCSE and A Levels to university entrance.  This year's GCSE cohort included students from Sweden, China, Germany, Nigeria, Thailand, Iran, South Africa and Ghana.  The excellent pass rate is therefore a tribute to the achievements of this wide-ability group, and to the dedication of Cobham Hall's staff.

Cobham Hall's results also dispel the myths about single-sex education and small schools.  With 215 entries in 22 subjects, the ability for small schools to offer a wide range of subjects is clearly demonstrated, and the 100% pass rate at A* to C in Biology, Chemistry and Physics clearly shows that there is no black hole in Science for the girls at Cobham Hall.
