What is the food like?
There is always a hot meal at lunchtime, with options for vegetarians. Help yourself to salads, make up your own sandwich or have a potato from the baked potato oven.
Do we share bedrooms?
Boarders in Lower and Middle school share rooms in small friendship groups. Sixth Form Boarders have individual study bedrooms.
What time do we have to get up?
This depends on which Year Group you are in.
Girls in Years 7 to 10 are woken by their Housemistress at 7am and must be up and ready for breakfast which is served in the dining room between 7.45 and 8.05am.
Girls in Year 11, Pre IB and Sixth Form are responsible for getting themselves up and dressed and to Registration promptly at 8.30am. They have breakfast in House.
When do we have to go to bed?
Girls in Lower School (Years 7 and 8) go to bed at 9.30pm. Bedtime is then 15 minutes later as you go up the school: 9.45pm in Year 9, 10.00pm in Year 10 and 10.15pm in Year 11. Bedtimes are a little later on Saturday nights.
Pre IB and Sixth Form students have to be in bed by 11pm.
When can our parents contact us at school for a chat?
Girls are free after school from 4.30pm until 6pm.
Girls in Main Hall (Years 7 to 11) are free from 8pm until bedtime and Pre IB and Sixth Form students are free after 10pm.
There are phones for girls' use in Main Hall and in Brooke and Bligh Houses.
Are we allowed out of school after school and at weekends?
Girls are allowed out of school unescorted only with permission from their parents (given in the Special Permission Form) and this privilege increases as girls go up through the school.
Between end of school and Prep time, girls in Years 7 to 11 are allowed to visit the shop in the local village and Pre-IB and Sixth Formers are allowed to go to local towns and shopping centres. Year 11 are also allowed to go shopping after school on Fridays, and Sixth Formers are allowed to go to London at the weekend.
Every weekend, outings and activities are organised, including shopping trips, visits to towns and cities and trips to the seaside, museums and many other places.
How will I find my way round Cobham Hall? It is so big!
When you arrive at school, your Big Sister will meet you. You may even have had a letter from her during the holidays. She will make sure you find your way to classes and look after you at break times and after school, introducing you to other students and helping you settle in.
