Cobham Hall has been a Round Square school for over forty years and was the first all-girls school to join the organisation.  The School buildings, originally the Jacobean home of the Earls of Darnley, are set in magnificent Kent parkland just 30 miles from London.  The Round Square ethos, which demands and celebrates individual progress in all areas, including academic achievement and global citizenship, flourishes in this unique setting.  It is very central to that of the School whose Mission Statement is:

“To inspire the fullest possible all round development of each individual, thus impelling all to achieve more than they ever thought possible.  Through challenge, service and adventure produce true global citizens who actively engage in producing a better world.”

Cobham Hall is a vibrant community; disciplined endeavour and social responsibility go hand in hand with enjoyment and fun in an all-sustaining partnership between pupils and staff.  The School received a very positive ISI report after its inspection in February 2015.  The School only offers the International Baccalaureate in the Sixth Form.

The School is an equal opportunities employer.  We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  Successful applicants are subject to a DBS check.

Language Assistants

Required: September 2017

We require enthusiastic, native speakers of French, Spanish and German to work as Language Assistants in our busy, international Languages Faculty.  Language Assistants support the work of the Languages Faculty under the supervision of the Modern Languages teachers and the Head of Faculty.  They may do this in whole class situations or independently with small groups of pupils.  The role involves improving students’ communication skills (in particular oral skills) and developing their knowledge of the society and culture of the target language.  Assistants will also help out with the Faculty’s after-school club once a week.

No special qualifications are required, but it is key that applicants have a passion for language acquisition.  Some experience of working with young people is desirable, but not essential.  Candidates wishing to stay for both a whole year or for shorter durations (eg one term) will be considered.

This position is unpaid, but the School offers free, full-board, on-site accommodation in a flat shared with the other language assistants.

Minimum Age:  18

Working Hours: Approximately 15 hrs per week over three days per week, term time only, from beginning September to end of June.  Cobham Hall School operates a two-week timetable, so working days may vary across the fortnight.  However, every effort will be made to provide assistants with a fair distribution of working days across the week.
