Also known as Curriculum Enhancement Week, this takes place during the last week of the Summer Term when the normal timetable is dropped in favour of a series of workshops, activities and trips – a week of challenge, fun and the chance to learn some new and often unusual skills.
The week is an expression of the Round Square idea that there are lots of opportunities for education outside of the classroom and that “there is more in you than you think”.
Activities can be creative, adventurous, cultural and physical or a combination of these and are designed to introduce students to new experiences and occasionally test their own limits.
In recent years, Year 7 and 8 have gone on residential trips to PGL outdoor adventure centres. Year 9 have gone windsurfing, on theatre trips and have been trained in the art of stage combat. Year 10 and Pre-IB girls undertake an eye-opening week of work experience placements. Year 12 undertake an IB Science project that encompasses a broad range of skills, as well as beginning their preparations for Year 13.
