The Saturday morning programme at Cobham has been revolutionised with a move away from traditional academic lessons to a variety of activities and trips designed to complement the weekday academic programme and enrich girls’ experiential education – the idea being that they do not just learn, they do … and learn through doing.
Girls in Years 7-10 participate in activities ranging from bridge building to Environmental Service mornings as well as attending adventurous, historical and other educational trips across Kent, London and throughout England.
Year 11 and Sixth Form girls choose a number of activities from options such as Personal Finance, Zumba, First Aid, Self Defence and Cookery which they take for five weekly sessions. These courses are interspersed with trips, seminars and workshops, on subjects ranging from world issues to the International Baccalaureate Extended Essay. There are also optional revision clinics and study skills sessions with subject teachers.
Not all Saturday morning activities are compulsory. Parents and guardians are given a schedule of the Saturday morning programme for the whole term and reminded each week about the activities taking place for each year group.
A typical Saturday morning with school-based activities runs from 9.15am – 12.35pm, though off-site timings will vary.
