An Italian Adventure
This half term, 22 girls from Years 8, 9 10 and 11 hit the slopes in Andola, Italy, for a week of skiing with Mrs Hooper and Mrs Carney.
For many of the girls, it was their first time skiing. Head of PE Mrs Hooper said on their return, “The ski trip was absolutely excellent. I’m so proud of the girls. Almost all of them were beginners and by the end of the week, they all skied a red run successfully! Not one hour of skiing was missed.”
The girls truly demonstrated Cobham Hall’s ethos of trying new things, and stepping outside of their comfort zone. Many said this was a key factor in deciding to go on the trip. “I wanted to go on the ski trip,” explained Year 8’s Francesca, “because I really wanted to learn new skills, as I had never been skiing before.” Year 9 pupil Rebecca agreed, saying, “I’m so glad that the trip was as good as I imagined; it was hard but worth it. It made me step out of my comfort zone and do things that I never would have thought I could be doing, like jumping over hills and bumps on the slopes. I am now able to say that can ski and I’m so glad that I did it with my friends as that made it ten times more enjoyable.”
For others, the trip ignited a new hobby, as many girls came home determined to ski again, including Zahra, Year 9. “I really enjoyed going skiing during the half term as it was my first time skiing,” she said “The instructors were very supportive and helpful and I would love to go back again. By the last day, I was confident skiing blue and red slopes!”
It wasn’t just time on the slopes the girls enjoyed. “I loved every minute of it,” commented Rosie, Year 9. “Accomplishing difficult slopes, and taking pictures of the beautiful scenery. It was great in the evenings being with friends. I would jump at the chance to go on another one of the trips.”
Sounds like a fabulous way to spend the half-term break!
