SAL Making Wishes Come True
Sixth Form Tutor Group SAL this term wanted to raise funds for Make-A-Wish, a charity that aims to fulfil the wishes of children with life-threatening conditions.
Inspired by new student Keely, who did something similar in her school in America, the students presented an Assembly to everyone at Cobham Hall. Inviting in guests from Make-A-Wish, the girls impressed upon the student body just how important and inspiring the work carried out by the charity is. The charity aims to fulfil 1000 wishes in 2016. Tutor Ms Lockheart said afterwards of the Assembly, “It was one of the best I have delivered in over 20 years of teaching. It certainly affected many students who approached me afterwards wanting to know more, or how they can help.”
In the weeks following the Assembly, the girls held a bake sale and sold badges to raise money. In total, the girls raised over £150. A charity spokesperson said of the donation, “We couldn’t grant wishes to children without donations like yours. So thank you, from all of us at Make-A-Wish and on behalf of all our wish children and their families.”
