The Show Must Go On!

Our annual Carols by Candlelight concert was a little darker than planned when, at exactly the moment the choir walked into the Gilt Hall, a fault of a local substation caused a power cut!

Demonstrating remarkable resilience in the face of such difficulty, the girls – and Miss Clements and Mr Haas - coped magnificently. They gave a sterling performance, despite the difficulty in seeing song sheets: turning what could have been a great inconvenience into something to simply add to the ambience!

One guest commented afterwards, “How your girls managed to sing in virtual darkness for much of the evening was astonishing. All credit to them, and to you for teaching them so thoroughly.  The quality of singing was high throughout and I was most impressed with the girls’ tone, projection, tuning and excellent pitch retention.”

The concert followed the Round Square Christmas Fair, where mulled wine and mince pies were flowing, and where each Tutor Group provided an entertaining stall.  From a Netball shoot-out to Guess the Song, there were games, treats and fun to be had. There were also stalls selling homemade jewellery thanks to Miss Frost, as well as the chance to purchase the new Benesonantes CD and the 2019 Wildlife calendar.

The perfect start to Christmas!
