Clifton Swim to Win

It has been a fantastic year for swimming, with our teams undefeated in external galas and so excitement grew quickly for the annual Inter-House Swimming Gala!

Head of PE Mrs Hooper said, “The Inter-House gala was a lot busier this year.  Our aim was to encourage more girls to get involved and so we introduced a C strand, and it definitely paid off. All the girls swam with determination and perseverance for their Houses.”

Although a House event, there were individual successes, with three School records being broken. Congratulations to Rebecca in Year 10, who broke the 50m Backstroke. The record was 38.02, and had stood since 2002, being held by Yu Yet Foo. Rebecca swam the distance in 37.15 seconds.

Year 8’s Natasha broke two records – first to fall was her own from last year’s gala. Taking over a second from her previous time on 120.44 seconds, Natasha swam this year’s 100m Individual Medley in 119.02 seconds. She also broke the 50m Breaststroke Junior record by 0.02 seconds! The previous record was held by Alice, set in 2016.

With both record-breakers being from Darnley House, they were looking strong in the Gala. However, there was another House that took the win. Here are the overall House results:

1st – Clifton

2nd – Darnley

3rd – Richmond

4th – Lenox
