At Cobham Hall we actively ensure our students to become confident, resilient and open-minded. We aim to give our girls diverse and enriching experiences and encourage students to take on responsibilities which benefit others, complementing our school ethos on community. We whole-heartedly believe that successful leaders enthuse others and more importantly, empower others.
Leadership opportunities exist for all Sixth Form students, in all areas of school life. Girls can apply to be Prefects, Peer Mentors and they can support academic and boarding staff by organising and leading a variety of clubs. All Sixth Form students are expected to be role-models, displaying responsibility and maturity in their actions, making it clear that they take great pride in being a Cobham Hall girl.
Some students may wish to have a senior leadership role within the school. Our Student Leadership Team (SLT) is democratically elected at the annual Guardian Convention by both pupils and staff, encouraging students to value the process of democracy. Students applying for a position will write their own manifesto, perform speeches to the whole school community and then face the challenge of a question and answer session.
The elected Guardian (Head Girl) will lead a team of six students: two Deputy Guardians and four House Captains. Through co-operation and collaboration it is expected that our Student Leadership Team will provide a student voice for all pupils as well as providing leadership, embodying and promoting the School’s expectations. Through organising whole-school events, including fundraising for a charity of their choice, the SLT will be exposed to the challenges of guiding their peers. Their enthusiasm, maturity and great commitment, alongside teacher led support systems, such as regular meetings with the Head of Sixth Form and the Head Teacher, will enable them to develop strong leadership qualities.
Forthcoming SLT Events
In addition to organising a collection for Beauty Banks, our SLT are arranging Spirit Week, which will culminate in a Cultural Drama Festival, and a Colour Run.
