Model United Nations

Our fastest-growing extra-curricular activity in recent years has been Model United Nations. The above video, produced by Year 12 pupil Saskia, gives an overview of MUN by girls who take part.

A role-play activity, girls are encouraged to adopt the stance of different countries to discuss global issues.  As well as fostering an understanding of a range of issues from a variety of perspectives, girls taking part in MUN gain more than just global awareness. Confidence, and the skills of public-speaking, communication and leadership are just some of the benefits enjoyed by those taking part.

As well as assisting with a whole School MUN General Assembly during the year, girls frequently travel to other schools to take part in MUN conferences.

Read the MUN News - a newspaper created by a team of girls during the recent full school MUN Conference.

"MUN offers many challenges, from public speaking to thinking on my feet in the emergency topic. My first conference really opened my eyes to the world! It took me some time to break out of my shell but soon I was conversing with other delegates and even proposed a solution to our emergency topic based on my country's views. It was a brilliant experience; it showed me I could do more than I thought. I’m really looking forward to attending another conference."
