Meet Our Scholars

At Cobham Hall, scholarships are a celebration of curiosity, commitment, and the courage to push beyond what you thought possible. We spoke with three of our Scholars, Ginny, Grace and Exyn, to learn more about their journeys and what being a Cobham Hall Scholar truly means.

Jinnie, Year 12 Drama Scholar

For Jinnie, receiving a Drama Scholarship was a defining moment. “It showed me that my talents were being recognised,” she reflects. “I felt proud of myself, and it felt like the school really saw what I had. It was one of the best moments of my life.”

What stands out most to her about Cobham Hall is the community. “We have so many people from different countries. It’s such a unique environment.”

Her time here has pushed her in unexpected ways. “Cobham challenges you in ways you didn’t think were possible. It pushes your limits, and I’ve learnt how much endurance I have.”

One of her proudest achievements came outside her scholarship subject: winning the Wilkinson Cup for Physics on Festival Day. “I was really proud of what I was doing,” she says with a smile.

For Jinnie being a Scholar is “a privilege , it means being part of a community and a representative of a subject.”

Grace, Year 13 Art Scholar

Grace remembers the excitement with which she received her scholarship, with this allowing her to stay at Cobham Hall. Reflecting on her experience as a scholar, Grace said what she treasures most about Cobham Hall is the breadth of opportunity. “I was able to do everything. I never used to sing or dance until the school play, I did a few years ago, it was incredible.”

But above all, it’s the people who make Cobham Hall feel like home. “You cannot walk down the hallway without smiling at someone.”

To her, being a Scholar means belonging to “a lovely community” that celebrates creativity and individuality.

Exyn, Year 13 Piano Scholar

For Exyn, the Piano Scholarship represents years of dedication. “Piano has always been really important to me, so this scholarship felt like my long-term commitment had been recognised.”

What she values most is Cobham Hall’s belief in nurturing more than one passion. “Cobham encourages us to be good at more than one thing. I’m supported as both a piano scholar and, in my academics, so I never feel that I must choose between them.”

Exyn also appreciates the diversity of experiences available. “I love the diversity here. I have the opportunity to choose between different academics and activities.”

Most importantly Exyn reflected how her scholarship at Cobham Hall has truly allowed her to grow. “Cobham gives us the space and the opportunity to develop our skills and push us.”

Cobham Hall is a place where students are seen, supported, and encouraged to thrive in every direction. Whether through drama, art, music, or academics, our Scholars embody the spirit of a school that celebrates individuality and champions' ambition.

Their journeys remind us that scholarship is not just an award but is also pathway to confidence, discovery, and belonging.
