Year 9 Students Raise over £500 for Charity

As part of their Personal Perspectives course, our Year 9 students recently took on an exciting entrepreneurial challenge. Tasked with turning a set budget into a successful business, they worked creatively and strategically to generate profits - all of which were donated to their chosen charities.

One group, in particular, went above and beyond, extending their business venture from the initial two-week challenge to an entire term. Their dedication and perseverance paid off, resulting in an impressive total of over £500 raised for their chosen charity, Ellenor.

"We were given £20 to raise money for a charity, we chose Ellenor. Over the autumn term, we ran the sweet shop twice a week. We made £561.70 and were lucky enough to get to visit Ellenor. We were given a tour around their new wellbeing centre and learnt about all the amazing things they do for people in their care.

For example, they brought Shetland horses and a monkey in for their patients. They said if the patient wants something, they will find a way to do it. We even got to meet their therapy dog Susie! We were very grateful to have been shown around by the fundraising lead George, who was an excellent tour guide.

Overall, we had a brilliant time, we learnt about Ellenor and were given some very tasty cake! Special mention to Mr K for arranging this visit and supporting us throughout."

Their success is a testament to their hard work, innovation and commitment to making a difference. We are incredibly proud of all the students who participated and demonstrated not only their entrepreneurial spirit but also their generosity.
