UK Student Admissions Journey
We are delighted that you are considering Cobham Hall school for your child. Our friendly and knowledgeable Admissions Team are on hand to support you through our admissions process.
Our standard admissions process includes an assessment and interview conducted in the year prior to entry, typically on a scheduled Assessment Day in November. School place offers are made following the assessment, with decisions communicated by the end of that month. Once an offer is made, families have the flexibility to accept it immediately or wait until the first week of March in the year of entry. We understand that some applicants may not be able to follow this timeline. Where space allows, we are happy to consider later applications. Please reach out to the Admissions team to discuss your child’s individual circumstances. The usual entry points to our school are:
- Year 7
- Years 8-11
- Sixth Form
We sometimes have occasional places in other year groups and are happy to receive an application for a prospective student at any stage.

Register your Child
Once you've visited Cobham Hall on a School Tour or Open Morning and are ready to begin an application for your child, we kindly request that you:
· Complete a Registration Form
· Pay a £180 (non-refundable) Registration Fee via FlyWire.
· Send a copy of your child’s passport, the latest two school reports, and any other support/diagnosis documentation relating to the application to admissions@cobhamhall.com
Please complete the above steps through our Register Your Child page.
Once we have received the above, our Admissions Team will promptly acknowledge your application and initiate the next stage of assessments for your child. We look forward to guiding you through this exciting process.
Assessments
As part of our assessment process, we invite Year 5 students (wishing to use the FastTrack process) or Year 6 students to sit a CAT4 (online cognitive ability assessment) and have an interview with a member of our Leadership Team. This can be done anytime during the school year (term-time) once your child is registered.
We also have a Year 6 Assessment Morning, where all students can attend in a group setting. During the morning, they will take the CAT4 and have their interview. While Cobham Hall is not academically selective, this assessment helps us understand how your child learns, identifying their strengths and areas where they might need extra support. We understand students can feel nervous about taking an assessment at a new school, but rest assured, we take a very understanding and supportive approach to ensure they feel comfortable throughout the process.
This day is more than just assessments; it’s a wonderful opportunity for students to meet and bond with their potential new peers. Through activities and games, they will create new friendships while awaiting their turn for an informal interview. This allows our Leadership Team to get to know the students better and provides a chance for the students to ask any questions they may have. We look forward to welcoming them.
Offer
Once your child has completed the assessment stage of their application, our Admissions Team, along with our Leadership Team, will review all aspects of their application to determine whether we are able to offer a place and, if so, whether any specific additional support will be required. For the Year 6 Assessment Day in the November of the year preceding entry, offer letters are typically issued by the end of that month. Where assessment takes place outside the Assessment Day, you should expect to receive a decision within two weeks.
We kindly ask that the Acceptance Form and Acceptance Deposit be submitted by the deadline specified in the offer letter. Generally, we request that places be accepted by March of the entry year.
Scholarships and Bursaries
When your child has received a school place offer, they have the exciting opportunity to apply for a Scholarship in Art, Music, Sports, or Drama. Auditions and interviews for these scholarships are held in the January of the year of admission. Application for Academic Scholarships is by invitation only based on assessment. Candidates will be invited to sit papers in English and Mathematics.
If a scholarship is awarded, it provides a 20% reduction in fees. The student will also join our scholarship programme, which aims to stretch, challenge and develop their talents, and where they will be guided by our Head of Scholarships to produce termly pieces of work. In return for the privileges afforded by a scholarship, we hold our Scholars to high expectations of behaviour and overall conduct.
The School may consider applications for a means-tested bursary (financial assistance) from parents of students who have passed our Entrance Assessments and been offered a full fee-paying place. The Mill Hill Education Group has only limited funds to provide bursaries across its schools, and we receive many more applications than we are able to support.
Please email admissions@cobhamhall.com for further details of scholarships and bursaries.
Welcome to Cobham Hall
Once you have accepted your child’s school place, you will be invited to our school events, such as our musical theatre productions, creative arts festival, and many more activities to help you feel part of the Cobham Hall community before joining us in September.
We also have a Familiarisation Day for all incoming Year 7s on a Saturday in the June prior to entry. During this day, students will meet Mrs Emma Wilkinson, our Head of Lower School, and other staff members. The day is filled with fun activities and games, allowing everyone to get to know each other and Cobham Hall better.
We finish the day with a Welcome BBQ, providing an opportunity for incoming students, parents, and staff to connect and enjoy some lovely refreshments. You can also purchase pre-loved uniform items from our parent group, the Unicorn Association.
We welcome applications year-round, including for mid-year entries. Please contact our Admissions Team for further information at admissions@cobhamhall.com.
