Kate French MBE returns to inspire students

Posted: 23rd June 2022

On Friday 17th June, Olympic gold-winning modern pentathlete and Cobham Hall Elder Kate French MBE returned to give our students an insight into her sport and her career. Awarded an MBE in the 2022 New Year Honours List for her services to modern pentathlon, Kate won a gold medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, performing wonderfully in all five disciplines. Her efforts in fencing, swimming, show jumping, shooting and running led her to the gold medal, with all events taking place on the same day.

A former Deputy Guardian of Cobham Hall, Kate returned to give students a taste of one of the key events of her sport. She led interactive laser shooting sessions throughout the morning with girls from Year 7 to Year 10, and she hosted a Q&A with our sports scholars. Kate then presented a powerful assembly in which she described her inspirational journey to an historic Olympic gold. A huge thank you to Kate for returning to share with current students the belief that they too can achieve great things with dedication.
