Pride Month Celebration

Posted: 1st July 2022

Last month was Pride Month, and Cobham Hall’s Student Leadership Team helped to raise awareness and support through a number of entertaining events. Pride Month celebrates inclusivity and acceptance, ideals which are at the heart of Cobham Hall’s ethos.

Raising the Flag

Firstly, our students raised the Pride flag above the bridge on Friday 10th June, under the SLT’s guidance. The flag remained raised throughout the month of June, a constant reminder of respect and the need to embrace others.

Chalking the Pride Flag

The School’s celebration of Pride Month continued on Thursday 16th, as our Student Leadership Team organised a chalking of the Pride flag on the bridge. It made for a very charming and engaging event, and an important signal of inclusivity and cooperation. Thank you very much to the SLT for organising such a brilliant spectacle.

Global Critical Thinking Article

Additionally, in Global Critical Thinking, our Year 12 student, Lex, was inspired by Pride month to investigate the potential implicit biases that Disney productions may hold towards the LGBTQIA+ community. This article explores how the portrayal of iconic villains tends to perpetuate biases and the implications of these biases toward the LGBTQIA+ community.
