On Wednesday afternoon, as part of their PDF lessons, Year 13 volunteered at Leybourne Lakes Country Park.
This week the students created a new log pile at the edge of the wood.
They started by clearing the ground, cutting away the bushes and digging out the old wood.
They then stacked the logs and secured them together with wire. A log pile is the perfect habitat for a range of insects, small mammals and amphibians.
The damp environment created by the stack of logs, bark and leaves provide small places to shelter in and interesting food sources.
